About
As a long-time, library goer and current Teen Librarian at the Somerset County Library System, I, Julia Meier, decided to go down the path of Library Science. Why have I decided to tread this path? It was not only for my love of books, knowledge, teaching, or learning but for the joy I find when serving the community. Working at the Somerset County Library System throughout my B.F.A. degree in Costume Technology at Rutgers, Mason Gross School of the Arts, I came to realize what truly makes me happy: working with the public, especially tweens and teens.

Promptly after I finished my B.F.A., in January 2020, I moved on to complete my Master of Library Information Science at the University of Southern Mississippi (USM). During studying at USM I discovered my love of archives and decided to complete an archives certificate in addition to my master’s degree. I have interned at the Hunterdon County Historical Society where I expanded my knowledge and skills in archiving. Currently, I have started working on creating a local history archive for the Somerset County 4-H.
As a librarian, archivist, and costume technician, I spend my free time as a costume consultant for the Clover Ensemble, planning the Clover Cafe for the 2023 Somerset County 4-H Fair, reading way too much manga, and starting yet another sewing or craft project that sparks my interest.
